Rei Hissori VS Yami no Kira

Rei Hissori was sat in the middle of a copse, cross-legged and meditating. Upon reflection, he had decided that being Raikage was not corrupting him as fast as he thought it would. He had not made any decisions that were for personal gain, and none that had put the Village in danger. Yet.

Suddenly, Rei sensed that he was no longer alone in the clearing. Standing slowly, he drew his sword. "Be you friend or foe, reveal yourself. I have little time for games", he said in a quiet voice that somehow managed to reach the furthest edges of the clearing. Rei awaited his opponent to come forth and reveal themselves.

Yami had chanced upon a lone shinobi in the clearing, seeing no markings to identify him as belonging to any village from his viewpoint he slowed down. The shinobi had sensed him, the drawing of his sword an obvious hostile act that he had to respond to in kind.
"I am neither friend nor foe. I merely am the the darkness of the world's heart, a darkness which compels me to fight this day."
Yami lowered the hood on his cloak and simply walked clear of the trees, into the clearing to meet his opponent, drawing his sword from its sheath beneath his cloak.

Shrugging, Rei knew that diplomacy was not going to work here. Good. He needed a fight after a year and a half of forcing politness. He was a soldier, a hunter, a warrior. It had been too long since his last fight.

Bringing his sword up in a salute to his foe, it smoothly cut through the air as suddenly Rei attacked. He was a blur of motion, the force of his speed sending up a huge dust cloud behind him. This frontal attack may have seemed foolish, but Rei was more than capable of taking a direct attack without getting hurt. He would test his opponent, see his flaws. And then...

And then the true battle would begin.

Rei's sword arched down, with the hunter already thinking of where to land the next blow.

Yami cocked his head to one side, slightly amused at this. A frontal attack? He had not seen such an opening move for many a year. He did not let his distract him however, he used the dust cloud his opponent was throwing up as a basic guide to track him.
Yami leapt into the air, trailing his sword behind him. He performed a mid air cartwheel, using his opponents weapon to give him force enough to move sideways. As he landed, he performed a quick string of handseals, sealing the combination with the dragon seal.
"Karyuu Endan!"
A long breath of flame erupted from Yami's mouth, engulfing the sword. As the technique finished, the sword stayed engulfed in the flame. Yami made a cutting motion toward his opponent, sending the projectile towards him.

Rei watched the flame shoot towards him, unfased. He waited until last moment before he moved out the way, almost in a lazy fashion to anyone who could have seen him do it. To anyone without the Keiji, it would have appeared that he went straight through the flame. The fact that his clothes were slightly smoldering and charred helping that image. He gave a small chuckle, and due to the fact that the throat it came from never usually did so, it morphed the sound into something more sinister.

"Fire? I was born of this!", he said, igniting his own blade as he dashed towards his foe again at speed, the flame sword a blur of heat and light, arching towards the man in blacks' head in the hope of a sword fight.

Once again, Yami tracked the heat, his own fire chakra allowing him to keep its location in check. He had ascertained one vital piece of information, his opponent could use katon techniques. This made things interesting as it meant his own were not going to be as useful as he had hoped. Nonetheless katon was not his only weapon, he had at least two others at his disposal.
He watched the sword until the last possible moment, raising his own and blocking it with the flat edge, a risky manoeuvre if improperly done. He pushed back and launched an attack of his own, keeping the sword held high with his left hand and preparing a downward slash

Rei smiled. It had been too long since he had last fought a decent foe with kenjutsu. Everyone always carried a sword these days, but they mostly always used ninjutsu instead of kenjutsu.

Back and forth, they hacked and cut at each other, blades becoming nothing more than light and sound. Suddenly, Rei saw a chance. His foe cut downwards. Instead of blocking it properly, Rei allowed the blade to slide down his own with the full momentum that his opponent had used. While his foe was off balance, he moved in very close and brought up his knee straight for the man in black ribs...

Yami felt like the knee contact, he flew backwards. But he had managed one thing, as he was flying back from the force of the hit, he had flicked his sword upwards and sliced the cloak, a small cut, but it was a start. The cut should spread because of the small amount of chakra in his sword from the technique earlier.

Watching him fly through the air, Rei didn't hesitate. The Hissori clan were very agile by nature and he wasn't going to stop at this. Rei jumped after his foe, catching up to him before he hit the ground and delivering another kick to his side that would send him into the path of a tree...

This time Yami was prepared, he had used the flying time to prepare his body for landing and also observed his opponents movement. As his opponent came bearing down on him, it became obvious his next attack would be a kick.
Immediately Yami responded, using his sword as a lever, driving it into the ground and using the force to fly back in the direction he came from and underneath his opponents body. He took the opportunity to counter attack while he had the chance, driving his legs upward toward his back

The kick to his back sent Rei flying vertically into the air with a lot of force. While mid-air, Rei never stopped planning. Putting his hands together, his chakra output dissapeared, and as soon as he got into the path of the sun, he dissapeared entirely. For a few seconds, eyes would adjust to the light, but Rei was still not in sight. After a few more seconds, there was a small puft of dust on the ground as 'Rei' landed. Tiny, almost invisible, patches of dust rose slightly as 'Rei' ran towards his foes back, and a almost invisible "swish" went throught the air as a blade came down on the man in blacks' head...

Slight vibrations in the wind reached Yami... Something was coming that he couldn't see and couldn't track like he had the sword. This time he would be relying on another aspect of his abilities. He felt a small movement just above him and quickly pulled out a kunai from beneath his cloak to cover his head as he lowered his body and retreated back slightly.
More able to move, he made a new string of handseals.
"Kaze no Yaiba"
Unlike usual, he did not direct the wind and allowed it to cut everything around him, causing several of the trees immediately behind him to fall and ripping the ground up for 10 meters in front

While making his handseals, 'Rei' immediately used Tonneru no Jutsu and dissapeared underground. At the same time, Rei smiled from his position in the trees and slammed his sword into the ground.

The floor underneigth his foe exploded, and the invisible 'Rei' grabbed at him. While the clone dragged him down and the floor gave way, a dome swiftly formed above the opponent, closing him off...

Yami cursed quietly, a quick examination told him he had been trapped underground and that his opponent also had knowledge of Doton techniques.
Yami also had knowledge of Doton and how to overcome them while he couldn't use the techniques themselves.
He began summoning both elemental chakra types. He would need high level katon power to break through this earth shield. He directed fire chakra into his sword once more, transforming it into the flaming brand and called on a wind jutsu.
"Atsugai"
He directed this at one point in the rock, and after creating a small hole with the force of the wind, he drove his sword into that point, the sudden heat burst from the blade forcing the rock to rapidly expand, cracking it all across the dome.
Yami leapt out amidst the rocks and sent several flying toward the trees at the far side, the ones that had escaped his jutsu previously.

Rei rasied an eyebrow. The man knew his jutsu. Very clever, nicely done. Rei stepped out, allowing himself to become visible again and returning his chakra emissions to normal. He launched himself at his foe, in such a tradjectory that he would meet him in mid-air.

Just before they collided, about two meters away, Rei swing his sword and several fireballs appeard, flying towards the opponent. They missed him by scant inches, and just as they passed by his face, he struck with his sword, with only enough momentum for one strike and then the fall.
